Job Summary To assist the Collection Manager ensure that all aspects of the Collections Department function smoothly efficiently in accordance with established Credit Union Collection policies and procedures and in compliance with appropriate state and or Federal rules and regulations To support the Collections Manager during their absence ensuring operational integrity and maintaining checks and balances to validate adherence to effectiveness service and operational standards Handle call escalations as necessary and provide on going staff coaching to expand the skill sets of Collection Staff Job Functions and Requirements Manage the activity of Collectors by reporting on the effectiveness of each collector to Manager and upper management Assist the Manager in managing the achievement of call and collection activity standards Assist the Manager in training and development of staff Assist the Manager in directing the collection of delinquent loans overdrawn savings overdrawn checking and any other collection items accounts as assigned Assist the Manager in authorization initiation and prosecution of attachments foreclosure including evictions legal or repossession actions to recover collateral pledged as security on Credit Union loans Secure transport and participate in the resale of attached repossessed or foreclosed property File creditora s claims CUMIS bond claims and insurance claims on repossessed foreclosed property All aspects of bankruptcy actions to include file proof of claims obtain reaffirmation agreements challenging claims valuations motions for relief of stay motions of dismissal and process Trustee claims payments Manage system and file documentation of member contacts important documents correspondence etc Review of Consumer Credit Counselor payment plans Handle collection agency assignments Develop of or compliance with audit Credit Union State and Federal policies procedures rules regulations and laws Manage departmental security and safety procedures Assist the Manager in managing member relations including handling member contacts in under difficult or stressful circumstances Make court appearances on behalf of Credit Union in collection or other related matters Assist the Manager in preparing monthly delinquency specific allowance s and allowance for loan loss reports Assist the Manager in preparing monthly recommended charge off and amendments to prior charge off for consumer loans VISA real estate other owned real estate overdrawn shares and overdrawn share draft accounts Take prudent and cost effective actions to maximize recoveries of charged off accounts Assist the Manager to prepare department reports and individual account analyses for Delinquency Review Committee monthly meetings Participate and take minutes of said meetings Assist in the development and adherence to department business plan and budget Maintain a thorough working knowledge in the following areas Credit and collection laws Bankruptcy and probate laws Repossession and lien laws Fraud and forgery detection investigation and related claims Foreclosure law Department of Corporation and National Credit Union Administration rules and regulations Providenta s operational policies and procedures personnel policies and Credit Union products and services Assist in any area as requested by management Recommend methods that improve effectiveness and efficiency Assist in managing staff turnover Complete required BSA OFAC training annually Understand and adhere to BSA OFAC policies and procedures including reporting suspicious activity Understand and adhere to FDCPA Fair Debt Collection Practices Act TCPA Telephone Consumer Protection Act and Rees Levering Act guidelines High School Diploma Five years management supervisory experience in consumer and real estate credit and collection preferably with a financial institution of over million in loans Comprehensive knowledge of bankruptcy collection foreclosure credit collateral insurance lien litigation probate and repossession procedures rules and regulations Demonstrated expertise to use PC Word Excel Windows and e mail
